The Air I Breathe

This is the air I breathe
This is the air I breathe
Your holy presence
Living in me

This is my daily bread
This is my daily bread
Your very word

Spoken to me

And I ... I'm desperate for you
And I ... I'm lost without you

This is air I breathe
This is air I breathe
Your holy presence
Living in me

This is my daily bread
This is my daily bread
Your very word
Spoken to me

And I ... I'm desperate for you
And I ... I'm lost without you (eh hey, yeah)
And I ... I'm desperate for you
And I ... I'm lost without you

And I ... I'm desperate for you
And I ... I'm lost without you

I'm lost without you
I'm lost without you
I'm lost without you (father)
I'm lost..without you

This is the air I breathe
This is the air I breathe

(c) Mercy Me - This Is The Air I Breathe

These are the words to one of the songs we sang during our worship service this morning. I cry almost every time I hear it because it is so simple, so raw and honest and so profound.

This is where God waits for us: in our desperation, our "lost-ness." He waits for us to hunger only for Him, desire only Him, breathe in only Him. That's when we are an acceptable sacrifice.

It doesn't mean that He wants us to be beaten down, battered, poor, lonely, frightened, ill or hungry. It means He wants us to want Him ESPECIALLY when we are not!

When we flourish by the world's standards -- we still must be desperate for Him! We naturally turn to Him, call upon Him, lean upon Him when we're down and out. It's in our thriving that He wants us to want Him alone.

God wants Him to be the only thing we need, want, live for. The ONLY thing. When we do that, everything else in our lives is in line with His plan. We may not understand it or even be very thrilled about it, but it is His plan and He wants us to WANT HIS PLAN.

Yes, God is a very demanding God! He wants everything! But then He has already given us the keys to the gates of heaven. How can we desire anything more?

Blessings on your journey,
Mary

I love this song. It speaks straight to the heart. I am desperate and lost without Him.

Thank you for the reminder. And thanks for visiting and commenting on Laced with Grace Friday about how BIG God is.

Blessings to you today!

Beautifully said! And, I agree with you about the simplicity of the song. That is what makes it so powerful. Love it!

Hi Mary,
