Praise Him In The Storm

I heard a song by the group Casting Crowns the other day that really got me thinking . . . thinking about how often I question God - not just about the "big stuff" but even the "little stuff."

Sometimes I feel quite put upon when someone or something inconvenicences me or offends me.  I even might start feeling sorry for myself. This song reminds me, though, that God is God even "in the storm."  I'm not going to tritely say, everything happens for a reason."  That's just too easy -- gives me an "out" too quickly.

My faith needs to be strong enough and deep and sure enough to praise God even if/when there isn't  a reason that I can understand or foresee!  By that I mean I shouldn't waste time trying to figure out "what's next" or "why" or "when?" or asking all the other questions that I inevitably ask when something occurs.  I need to praise the God who is bigger than any question my mind could even perceive.

His plans, His purposes are so huge and vast that we could not even begin to comprehend the answer to any of our small and insignificant questions! I need to remember to praise God even in the midst of whatever hardship I am experiencing--praise Him in the storm--because He is not only in the storm with me - He is the creator of it all!

Here are some of the lyrics:
I was sure by now
God You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

[Chorus:]
And I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

You can listen to the whole song here:

Blessings on your journey,
Mary
